About Me 🇱🇦

My journey to the crown has been deeply inspired by my recent reconnection with my Laotian roots. For much of my life, I primarily identified with my Chinese heritage, shaped by the vibrant community I was part of during my seven years in New York City. It was simpler to share that part of my identity, especially since many were unfamiliar with Laos.

However, moving to Los Angeles in 2021 opened a new chapter in my life, where I found myself surrounded by more diverse cultures, including a significant number of Southeast Asians. This exposure encouraged me to fully embrace and celebrate the entirety of my heritage.

This past November marked a significant milestone in my journey. My family and I embarked on our first international trip together, visiting Laos as a family for the first time. The experience was transformative, deepening my love and appreciation for the beauty and culture of Laos.

Now, as I stand on this path to the crown, I do so with a heart full of pride and a mission to share the wonders of Laos with the world. This pageant is not just a personal achievement; it’s a step forward for our community, a celebration of our roots, and a testament to the power of embracing one’s full identity. 🤍

My journey so far

Hi everyone! My name is Beena Wu, and I’m honored to represent Laos in the upcoming Miss Asia USA pageant on November 16th in Redondo Beach, California, hosted by Virgelia Productions. This opportunity is not just about personal growth; it’s a platform to elevate and share the beauty of an often underrepresented culture.

With three months left, this journey has already far exceeded my expectations. I’ve had the privilege of forming meaningful connections, meeting like-minded individuals, and acquiring new skills and life lessons every day. This experience has truly aligned with my deeper aspirations, and it’s a chance to serve a greater purpose by bringing more visibility to the Laotian culture on a global stage.

Your support means the world to me, not just in achieving my personal goals, but in helping me serve our community. This year marks the 36th anniversary of the Virgelia Productions Beauty and Culture Pageant, showcasing delegates from Asia, Latin America, and Europe.

I’m incredibly grateful for the love and encouragement I’ve received so far from friends, the community, and new connections. Your continued support—whether through kind words, insights, or sponsorship—makes this journey less lonely and more impactful. Any additional contributions will go toward materials, photoshoots, and coaching sessions necessary for me to prepare and represent Laos with pride.

Thank you for being a part of this journey with me.

With love and gratitude,
Beena Wu
